Triumph Motorcycles and Bajaj Auto India announce partnership

Triumph Motorcycles UK and Bajaj Auto India have announced a partnership to bring Triumph motorcycles to the Global motorcycle markets. This non-equity partnership is meant to deliver a range of mid–capacity motorcycles benefiting from the collective strengths of both companies. The companies haven't disclosed many details besides stating that the aim is to collectively reach a large number of motorcycling audience across the globe.

2017 Bajaj Dominar 400
Besides being India's 3rd largest motorcycle manufacturer, Bajaj
- Owns a whopping 48% stake in KTM
exports accounted for approx. 35% of its total sales to countries viz., Thailand, Turkey, Peru, Ecuador, Finland, Mexico and several nations in Africa.
- Has had a long standing technical and sales/service alliance with Kawasaki that spans over 3 decades.
- Is a leading contender as the future owner of Ducati
Bajaj Auto's exports accounted for approx. 35% of its total sales.
2017 Triumph Speed Triple
The iconic Triumph brand which was founded in 1902 has a very narrow yet strong fan following and is most known for their modern classics (the Bonneville and Thruxton models) and naked street fighers (Speed Triple and Street Triple).

Taking all of these factors into consideration, both Triumph and Bajaj appear to have found each a great partner. The goal here appears to be targeting small to medium displacement motorcycle sales. While Bajaj will gain access to the iconic Triumph brand, Triumph return will gain access to new higher volume market segments especially within the emerging markets across the world.
