It was about time with a couple of years since Aprilia's launch of its "claim-to-fame" RSV4, their benchmark superbike that dominated the WSBK championship. The Noale, Italy based motorcycle manufacturer introduced its latest version of the TUONO which has been, hands-down one of wildest naked motorcycles out there through every iteration its been through.
Well guess what. This new 2011 Tuono is going to be nothing short of ridiculous. Aprilia's delivering all the 162 HP from its V4 engine thats straight from the RSV4. Its basically the RSV4 without the fairing and revised ergonomics for street riding with an advanced chassis, with electronics management for customized riding. Aprilia calls it "The heart racing, soul stirring naked", and we can't expect any less.
Check out this list of goodies that Tuono comes loaded with -:
- V4 65° engine as a stressed member of the frame, with the aerodynamic "gnat-eyed" polyelliptical headlights with all the 160+ horsepower staring right in your face,
- Exhaust system with bypass valve that's two kilos lighter than the system used on the RSV4 R,
- Ride by Wire throttle control, closer spacing between the three first gear ratios compared to the RSV4, a maximum torque of 110 Nm on tap 1000 rpm lower than the RSV.
- Inertia sensor combined with two gyrometers and two accelerometers allowing the ECU to determine the dynamic state of the motorcycle and control engine torque accordingly to help the rider exploit the full performance potential of the bike in all conditions.

- Eight selectable levels for traction control, to control sliding when accelerating out of a curve in relation to bank angle and throttle aperture,
- Wheelie Control which helps the rider control extreme wheelying by gradually bringing the front wheel back to the ground,
- Gear Quick-Shift, for instantaneous upshifts without closing the throttle or using the clutch.
- Launch control - Simultaneously pressing both buttons on the joystick on the left hand handlebar arms the system, as confirmed by the specific message on the display. From this moment on, all 162 horsepower of the beast from Noale are ready to slingshot the Tuono V4R like a missile as soon as the rider releases the clutch, unleashing the astonishing power onto the tarmac through every available square millimetre of the 190/50 rear tyre.
