We're reporting on Aprilia's new RS4, an entry level sportsbike for novice riders. This will be Aprilia's first four-stroke entry level street bike to take the position of the fantastic RS125 two-stroke race bike that had a very successful 20 year run. Replacing such a class leading 125cc two-stroker as Aprilia's sportiest teenager moto is not an easy task and from what Aprilia explains of this bike they seem have put in a great deal of effort in this new-comer.
The RS4 125 is not just a fancy-fairing clad run-of-the-mill teenager moto. This four-stroker comes equipped with electronic injection, 4 valves, dual overhead camshafts (DOHC), extremely stiff aluminium perimeter frame, 41 mm upside down fork, front brake with 300 mm disc and radial four piston calliper, Superbike inspired analogue/digital instrument panel, fairings derived directly from factory version of the RSV4. Apart from the engine department, the fairings have undergone wind-tunnel testing to minimize surface area, exhaust is designed to couple with the fairing to centralize mass.
A practical quick release button allows the passenger seat to be exchanged with the tail fairing cover in an instant to transform the bike from two seat to single seat configuration.
This long list of goodies should put it right on top of a 16 year old's "objects of desire" list.
